How do you trade spot on Binance? If you already hold USDT and want to buy BTC, ETH or other digital assets on Binance, open the Binance App, go to "Trade → Spot", pick a pair like BTC/USDT, confirm you're on plain spot rather than margin or futures, then choose a market or limit order. After the fill, you can check the actual bought quantity, average fill price, and fee in the order record and spot asset page.

Why can't you buy BTC even when you have USDT? A common reason is that the available balance on the current trading page is insufficient: the USDT may be in another account, or already locked by an unfilled open order. First check the asset location, available balance, and current open orders, then choose a funding source, transfer assets, or cancel an open order according to what the App actually shows.

What is Binance spot trading? Binance spot is using assets you already hold — USDT, BTC, etc. — to buy or sell another digital asset through a spot pair. Plain non-margin spot doesn't require you to actively borrow, which is different from margin and futures trading.

How do you choose between a market order and a limit order? A market order prioritizes immediate execution but may experience slippage; a limit order lets you set a maximum buy price or minimum sell price, but may wait or never fill.

September 4, 2026 test: CoinTrailHub completed an internal transfer of 100.05791258 USDT, then used 49.47250060 USDT in a market order to buy 0.00061 BTC at an average fill price of 81,102.46 USDT/BTC with a fee of 0.00000061 BTC.[1]There was also a limit buy order at 81,000 USDT/BTC that did not fill and was later cancelled.

This article focuses on: how to buy BTC when you have USDT, why a limit order doesn't fill, where to view your coins after buying, how to sell spot, and how to move assets to your own wallet.

How to start spot trading on Binance? Four steps first

  1. Check your USDT balance: Confirm the spot page has available funds; when short, check the account location and open-order locks.
  2. Choose a spot pair: Go to "Trade → Spot" and search BTC/USDT.
  3. Choose an order type: Pick a market or limit order based on your execution needs.
  4. Verify the fill record: After placing the order, check its status, actual filled quantity, average price, and fee.

Who is this article for?

Users who already have a Binance account and USDT and are preparing to buy or sell BTC/ETH on the spot page for the first time can follow this article.

If you haven't registered or don't have USDT yet, first read the Binance registration tutorial 2026 or the Binance buy USDT tutorial 2026, complete the preparation, then come back.

This article doesn't cover futures leverage strategies, and it doesn't treat P2P USDT buying and order-book spot buying as the same operation.

If all goes well, you can complete your first market buy within 3 minutes. The two easiest places to trip up are: USDT not being in the current spot account or being locked by an open order, and a limit order sitting unfilled.

1. Why can't you buy BTC when you have USDT on Binance? Check the balance first

Insufficient available balance on Binance spot doesn't necessarily mean your USDT hasn't arrived. You need to distinguish total account balance from the balance the current order can actually use.

There are three common situations:

  1. The USDT is held in an account not used by the current spot trading.
  2. The USDT is already locked by another limit open order.
  3. The current pair, funding source, or account mode doesn't match your expectation.

How to troubleshoot an insufficient balance

What the page showsHow to handle it
Total assets have USDT, but spot available balance is 0Check which account holds the assets and the spot page funding source
Total balance is sufficient, but available balance is lowCheck whether a current open order is locking USDT
The pair isn't BTC/USDTConfirm the quote asset of the selected pair
A minimum amount or quantity mismatch is shownAdjust to the current pair's order rules

Check the cause first, then decide whether to transfer. Don't assume every P2P-bought USDT must first be transferred from the Funding account to the Spot account.

Why did this test perform a fund transfer?

On September 4, 2026, the CoinTrailHub test account needed to transfer USDT from the Funding account to the Spot account to use that balance with the interface at the time.

The transfer amount recorded was:

100.05791258 USDT.[4]

How to transfer USDT from the Funding account to the Spot account on Binance?

If your account page genuinely requires a transfer, follow the account names actually shown at the time:

  1. Open the Binance App and go to "Assets".
  2. Check the USDT balance in the Funding and Spot accounts.
  3. Tap "Transfer".
  4. Set the source and destination accounts.
  5. Select USDT.
  6. Enter the transfer amount.
  7. Verify the direction and confirm.

Figure 3: 100.05791258 USDT internal transfer succeeded. The negative record on the source account is not a fee.

Does an internal transfer require choosing TRC20 or ERC20?

No.

Internal transfers between Binance accounts are not withdrawals to an external blockchain address, so this step didn't require entering a wallet address or choosing an on-chain network like TRC20, ERC20, or BEP20.

Afterward, return to the spot page and check the available balance.

2. How to buy BTC on Binance spot? Enter BTC/USDT and place an order

Once USDT is ready, enter the spot trading page in the Binance App.

The usual steps are:

  1. Tap "Trade" at the bottom.
  2. Select "Spot".
  3. Search BTC/USDT.
  4. Confirm the trade direction is "Buy".
  5. Choose a market or limit order.
  6. Enter the order amount or quantity.
  7. Verify the order and submit.

Page menus may vary by App version and account settings.

What does BTC/USDT mean?

BTC/USDT is the spot trading pair of Bitcoin against USDT.

Where:

  • BTC is the base asset.
  • USDT is the quote asset.
  • Buying BTC: using USDT to get BTC.
  • Selling BTC: using BTC to get USDT.

If you want to buy BTC, confirm the current trade direction is Buy, not Sell.

What's the difference between Binance spot, P2P, and futures?

Trading methodMain purpose
SpotBuy/sell BTC, ETH, etc. using digital assets you hold
P2PTrade fiat and digital assets with counterparties through platform-supported methods
ConvertExchange assets directly at a quote provided by the service
Margin tradingMay borrow assets to trade, with interest and forced-disposal risk
Futures tradingTrades derivative positions, with risk mechanics different from plain spot

This article is about plain, non-margin spot. After entering the trading page, confirm you haven't strayed into a futures or margin product.

3. How to buy BTC with a market order on Binance? A real 49.47 USDT fill

A Binance market order is an order matched as quickly as possible at the executable prices in the order book at submission time.

It doesn't require the user to set a fixed fill price, and suits situations where you prioritize immediate execution — but it may produce slippage and may be affected by platform price protection and market depth limits.

Steps to place a market buy

The steps performed on the BTC/USDT page this time were:

  1. Select "Buy".
  2. Choose "Market" as the order type.
  3. Enter the USDT you plan to use in the fill amount.
  4. Verify the estimated BTC quantity and related prompts.
  5. Tap "Buy BTC".
  6. Confirm the order again.
  7. Check the actual fill result.

2026 test: how much BTC did you actually buy?

On September 4, 2026 at 16:39:42, CoinTrailHub actually completed a BTC/USDT market buy order.

Fill itemActual result
Trading pairBTC/USDT
Fill amount49.47250060 USDT
Filled quantity0.00061 BTC
Average fill price81,102.46 USDT/BTC
Fee0.00000061 BTC
Fill roleTaker
Order statusFully filled
Fill time2026-09-04 16:39:42

The actual fill amount this time was about 49.47 USDT — don't treat the page-previewed estimated quantity as the final fill result.

Binance BTC/USDT market buy real order, filled 49.47250060 USDT, fee 0.00000061 BTC

Figure 5: This market buy order fully filled; the order detail shows the average fill price, BTC quantity, and actual fee.

You bought 0.00061 BTC, why did less arrive?

Because this trade's fee was charged in BTC.

The actual order shows:

  • Filled quantity: 0.00061 BTC.
  • Fee: 0.00000061 BTC.

So, per this fill record, the net increase after the fee is:

0.00061 − 0.00000061 = 0.00060939 BTC.

This explains why the estimated quantity on the order page, the order's filled quantity, and the account's final net increase may not be exactly the same.

The BTC fee-charging method in this record doesn't apply to all users long-term. The actual fee asset and amount can be affected by the pair, user tier, fee discounts, and BNB fee-deduction settings.

4. How to place a limit order on Binance? 81,000 USDT unfilled then cancelled

A Binance limit order is an order where you set an acceptable maximum buy price or minimum sell price, and the system tries to fill at that price or better.

A limit order doesn't guarantee a fill.

For example, a buy limit set at 81,000 USDT/BTC may wait if market sell-side prices are above that level.

Steps to place a limit buy for BTC

  1. Enter the BTC/USDT spot page.
  2. Select "Buy".
  3. Choose "Limit" as the order type.
  4. Enter the planned buy price.
  5. Enter the BTC quantity you plan to buy.
  6. Verify the order total and available USDT.
  7. Tap "Buy BTC".
  8. Check the order status in "Open Orders".

Why didn't this limit order fill?

On September 4, 2026, a BTC/USDT limit buy order was submitted.

Order itemActual record
Order price81,000 USDT/BTC
Order quantity0.00124 BTC
Submitted at2026-09-04 16:35:29

Final record statusUnfilled, then cancelled

At the time, the market offered no sell-side fills meeting the limit condition, so this order entered the open orders.

Figure 7: The limit order is in open-order status; the screenshot shows a 0% fill ratio.

Why does your available USDT drop while a limit order sits?

Because an unfilled limit buy order usually locks the corresponding order funds.

The funds haven't disappeared — they're just temporarily unavailable for another order that needs the same balance.

This is also one reason beginners often hit "the account clearly has USDT, but the spot page shows insufficient balance."

How to cancel a limit order on Binance?

If you no longer want to wait:

  1. Go to "Open Orders".
  2. Find the corresponding BTC/USDT limit order.
  3. Verify the order price, quantity, and direction.
  4. Tap "Cancel".
  5. Check whether the order is now cancelled.
  6. Check whether the unfilled funds are available again.

This order was submitted at 16:35:29 and cancelled at 16:35:36.

About 7 seconds in total.

Because the filled quantity was still 0 at cancellation, no trading fee was charged this time.[2]

Binance BTC/USDT limit buy at 81000 USDT unfilled then cancelled, actual fee 0

Figure 8: The order never actually filled, so no trading fee was charged when it was cancelled.

If an order is already partially filled, cancelling only cancels the unfilled part. The filled quantity is kept and charged per the actual trade record.

5. How to choose between market and limit orders on Binance? What's the fee difference?

The core difference between market and limit orders is the price-limit method and fill conditions.

Order type comparison

Order typeFill conditions and price characteristics
Market orderMatched as quickly as possible at order-book executable prices; final price may vary
Limit orderMatched at the set price or better; may wait or never fill

How to choose: if you prioritize immediate execution, understand a market order's slippage and price-protection rules; if you prioritize a price boundary, understand that a limit order may never fill and locks funds.

The tested results of the two order types

Order typeActual result
Market buyFully filled, average fill price 81,102.46 USDT/BTC
Limit buy81,000 USDT/BTC, unfilled then cancelled

These two orders can't be used to compare which order type gets a cheaper fill price, because the limit order never filled at all.

What they prove is: market and limit orders produced different order outcomes under these conditions.

What's the difference between Maker and Taker?

A Maker is the party that places an order into the order book and adds market liquidity; a Taker is the party that immediately matches an existing order and consumes order-book liquidity.

This market order was recorded as Taker.

But a limit order isn't necessarily a Maker. If a limit order matches an order-book order immediately after submission, it can also be a Taker.

So you can't simply assume "limit-order fees are always lower than market-order fees."

How are Binance spot fees calculated?

The actual spot trading fee combines your account tier, the trading pair, the fill role, and applicable discounts.

This market buy order actually deducted:

0.00000061 BTC.

That's about 0.1% of this trade's filled BTC quantity[3], but it's only the current test data and doesn't mean all accounts are charged the same rate.

When checking fees, prioritize the actual deducted asset and quantity shown in the fill detail.

6. Where do you see BTC after buying on Binance spot? How to view fees?

After a successful Binance spot buy, check the asset balance, order status, and actual fill record separately.

These three places answer different questions.

What should you check after a fill?

Information to checkWhere to check
Whether the order fully filledOrder history or the order detail
Actual average fill priceOrder detail or fill history
Fee amount and assetFill detail and related statements
Actual BTC heldSpot assets or the asset page for the current funding source
Orders still waitingOpen Orders
Whether unfilled funds are releasedOrder status and available balance

After buying, the most valuable thing to verify isn't the order preview — it's the final filled quantity, average fill price, fee, and net asset increase.

Why doesn't the bought BTC show in the Funding account?

It may be because the filled asset is recorded in the Spot account or the asset account for the current trading funding source.

First open the asset page and check the corresponding BTC balance, then verify the fill order.

If you need to move assets between internal accounts, use the transfer feature provided on the current Binance page.

Don't judge the trade as failed just because the Funding account doesn't show BTC.

Are spot assets on Binance your own wallet?

After a fill, BTC is recorded within your Binance account system, but until it's withdrawn to an external self-custody wallet, the private key isn't directly held by you.

So buying spot BTC and withdrawing BTC to your own on-chain wallet are two different operations.

7. How to sell BTC on Binance spot? Can you cash out?

Selling BTC on Binance spot means swapping BTC back to USDT in the BTC/USDT pair — it doesn't mean the money is already in your bank account.

Steps to sell BTC on spot

  1. Open the Binance App.
  2. Go to "Trade → Spot".
  3. Select BTC/USDT.
  4. Switch to "Sell".
  5. Choose a market or limit order.
  6. Enter the BTC quantity you plan to sell.
  7. Verify the estimated USDT and order info.
  8. Submit the order and check the fill record.

This September 4 test didn't run a separate BTC sell order, so this section is organized from the official process and is not a sell test.

What's the difference between selling BTC, selling USDT, and on-chain withdrawal?

OperationAsset change after completion
Spot sell BTCBTC swapped to USDT or another quote asset
P2P sell USDTWhen eligible, sell USDT and receive the corresponding fiat
On-chain withdraw BTCSend BTC to an external supported blockchain address
On-chain withdraw USDTSend via a supported network to another wallet or platform

If you want fiat in your bank account, check the fiat off-ramp services your account supports; if you just want to move BTC into your own wallet, use on-chain withdrawal.

Can you withdraw Binance spot BTC to your own wallet?

You can request a withdrawal when the account meets withdrawal requirements and the asset and network are supported.

When operating, verify:

  • The receiving wallet address;
  • The asset and network;
  • The minimum withdrawal amount;
  • The platform fee;
  • The actual compatibility of the address, network, and wallet.

On-chain transfers usually can't be reversed the way internal platform transfers can, so don't pick the withdrawal network casually.

8. What to do when a Binance spot order doesn't fill or balance is insufficient

Spot trading problems can usually be diagnosed first by the order status.

SymptomPriority check
Limit order keeps waitingLimit condition, order-book price, and filled quantity
Insufficient USDT available balanceAccount funding source and other open-order locks
Order shows amount too smallThe pair's minimum notional requirement
Order shows quantity rule mismatchQuantity step size, price precision, and trading rules
Bought BTC lower than expectedAverage fill price, fee asset, and actual deduction
Market order not fully filledActual fill record, market depth, and order limits

Order of handling: first check the order status, then the available balance and fill detail, and finally decide whether to wait, adjust the order, or cancel the unfilled part.

Does a market order always fully fill?

Not necessarily.

A market order is usually matched as quickly as possible against the order book, but under sharp price swings, insufficient market depth, or when platform price limits are hit, the order may fail or partially fill.

Judge the final result by the actual order history.

The limit price was reached, why didn't it fill?

It may relate to the order-book executable quantity, the order-queue sequence, and the actual liquidity at the moment the price was touched.

The last traded price touching your limit doesn't necessarily mean every same-price order fills immediately.

Does cancelling a limit order cost anything?

This 81,000 USDT limit buy was cancelled while its filled quantity was still 0, so no trading fee was charged.

If the order had already partially filled before cancellation, the filled part may incur a corresponding trading fee.

FAQ

1. How do I trade spot on Binance?

Enter the Binance App "Trade → Spot", pick a pair like BTC/USDT, confirm the available balance and trading mode, then place a market or limit order. After the fill, check the actual filled quantity, average price, and fee.

2. Why can't I buy BTC when I have USDT?

First check the available balance on the trading page, which account holds the assets, the funding source, and any unfilled open orders. If needed, transfer assets or cancel the order locking the funds as the App prompts.

3. What's the difference between market and limit orders on Binance?

A market order prioritizes matching against the order book quickly, and the price may vary; a limit order caps the acceptable price boundary but doesn't guarantee a fill.

4. Why doesn't my Binance limit order fill?

A common reason is that the order book has no counterparty order meeting the condition yet, possibly involving queue sequence and market liquidity. You can keep waiting or cancel the unfilled part.

5. Where do I see BTC after buying on Binance spot?

You can view BTC in spot assets or the relevant asset account, and check order status, fill price, and fee in the order history and fill detail.

6. How are Binance spot fees charged?

The actual fee depends on the pair, account rate, and applicable discounts. This BTC/USDT market buy charged in BTC; each case should follow your own order statement.

7. Can you cash out from Binance spot?

If you mean swapping BTC back to USDT, sell on the spot page; if you mean receiving fiat in your bank account, use the fiat off-ramp services your account supports. They're not the same step.

8. Can I move BTC to a wallet after buying on Binance spot?

When account and network requirements are met, you can use the withdraw feature to send BTC to a supported external wallet address. Verify the address, network, and fee before withdrawing.

9. What's the difference between Binance spot and futures?

Plain non-margin spot uses assets you hold to trade directly; futures involve derivative positions and margin rules and may trigger forced liquidation. Plain spot has no futures-style forced liquidation, but that doesn't mean there's no price-loss risk.

10. The Binance spot page shows a leverage indicator — did I enable margin?

You can't tell from an indicator alone. Verify the actual trading mode, borrow status, margin settings, and order info. This article only demonstrates plain, non-margin spot.

Summary: what are the key operations for Binance spot trading?

If you already have USDT, the main steps to buy BTC on Binance spot are: check the available balance, enter BTC/USDT, choose a market or limit order, confirm the buy, then verify the actual fill result.

This CoinTrailHub test shows:

  • When USDT is short, check the asset location and open-order locks — don't assume every account needs the same transfer flow.
  • A market order's filled quantity may differ from the preview, and the fee may be deducted in the bought asset.
  • A limit order may wait to fill, and an unfilled order temporarily locks funds.
  • After an unfilled order is cancelled, the funds become available again, and no trading fee was charged this time.
  • Spot selling, fiat off-ramp, and on-chain withdrawal are different operations.

This article's data comes from a real account operation on September 4, 2026, and doesn't represent future BTC prices, fill conditions, or every user's trading fees.
