Rebinding a Binance referral code as an existing user is not as simple as "after 90 days you can bind one."

You must first pass a pre-application eligibility gate, and after your application is approved you must complete 150,000 USD worth of spot trading volume within 30 days before the referral relationship is officially established.

What trips most people up is not "am I eligible", but "is it worth churning 150,000 USD in volume just for this". This guide separates the two questions.

New to Binance and not familiar with the full flow? For the order of registration, KYC, buying and withdrawing, see Binance tutorial 2026; this guide focuses on judging eligibility for old-user referral rebinding.

About 6 minutes to read. Remember the two things people get wrong most often: "90 days" refers to your cumulative volume over the most recent 90 days, not "90 consecutive days without using the account"; and 150,000 USD is cumulative trading volume, not a principal amount you must deposit at once.

First, check whether your account already has a referrer

Rebinding solves the problem of "my account has no referrer". If your account is already bound to a referrer, you usually cannot change it, and you do not need to go through this process.

Some users only remember not filling in a code at sign-up, but are not sure whether a referral relationship was later established. In that case, contact Binance official support and ask directly:

Please help me check whether this account is already bound to a referrer.

Only after confirming there is no referrer should you look at the application conditions. For where to check and the steps, see How to check whether Binance referral code BN522 is bound? Where to see the referral relationship.

What conditions are required to rebind a referral code?

The application conditions currently visible include:

Item checked Qualifying state
Identity verification KYC completed and approved
Referral relationship No referrer currently bound
Account type Must use the main account
Past trading volume Total volume in the 90 days before submission no more than 5,000 USD
Account status Not flagged as an abnormal or wash-trading user
Region Not in a platform-restricted region

What is checked here is "total trading volume over the past 90 days", not "the account has not been used for 90 consecutive days".

If you have had some trades in the past 90 days but the cumulative total does not exceed 5,000 USD, you can still open the application page to check eligibility; if it already exceeds 5,000 USD, you currently do not meet this feature's conditions.[1]

If your account has not completed identity verification, first see Binance KYC: how to do it, how long review takes, reasons for failure and fixes (2026). The referral program has KYC and region eligibility restrictions; see Binance referral program additional notes for details.

How to apply for rebinding

The old-user application entry currently available:

Open the Binance old-user rebinding application page

After opening the link:

  1. Log in to the Binance main account you want to apply for
  2. Manually enter the referral code BN522
  3. Check the referral code and account information
  4. Confirm and submit the application
  5. Wait for the system to review eligibility

The referral code only needs to be entered once on the application page. Once the referral relationship is formally established it cannot be changed, so check that it is correct before submitting.

Does it take effect immediately after submitting?

No.

After the application is approved, you must accumulate within 30 days:

150,000 USD of eligible spot trading volume.[2]

Only after you meet the requirement and pass review is the referral relationship officially established, and eligible trades only then start generating fee rebates. If you do not complete it within the required time, the application does not automatically become a formal binding.

How is the 150,000 USD volume actually calculated?

This is the easiest place to get wrong. What is calculated here is cumulative eligible spot filled volume — not your account principal, and not requiring you to deposit 150,000 USD at once.

Put simply:

Cumulative volume = the sum of every eligible spot fill amount

Using the BTC/USDT spot pair as an example, suppose you use 5,000 USDT to complete one buy and one sell:

Action Filled amount
Buy BTC 5,000 USDT
Sell BTC about 5,000 USDT
Cumulative volume about 10,000 USDT

Calculation: 5,000 + 5,000 = 10,000 USDT

Example calculation of the 150,000 USD spot volume requirement for rebinding Binance referral code

This example is only to explain the accumulation method. Your actual sell fill amount is affected by BTC price movement, fees and fill price, and may not be exactly 5,000 USDT.

You ultimately need to reach 150,000 USD, but not all fills count toward the requirement. The following trading volume currently does not count:

  • Zero-fee trades
  • Bstock Phase 3 activity trades
  • Ineligible non-spot trades
  • Abnormal or wash trades

Go by the progress shown on the application page. Do not judge it simply as "principal × number of trades", and do not repeatedly trade back and forth just to hit the volume — abnormal trades may also trigger platform risk control.

Is it worth trading repeatedly to pass the requirement?

This is where you need to stay calm: it is not necessarily worth it.

If you already have normal spot trading needs, 150,000 USD of cumulative volume can be reached gradually through daily activity; but if you only trade a few hundred or a few thousand dollars normally, repeatedly buying and selling just to bind a referral code may add:

  • Spot trading fees
  • Buy-sell spread
  • Market volatility risk
  • Operational error risk
  • Account risk-control risk

To help you calculate "is it worth it" yourself, here is a rough comparison using the ordinary-user spot fee rate of 0.10% and a 20% rebate (this only counts the rebate, not the BNB discount):

Monthly spot volume Approx. monthly fee (0.10%) Approx. 20% rebate Approx. saved per year
10,000 USDT 10 USDT 2 USDT 24 USDT
50,000 USDT 50 USDT 10 USDT 120 USDT
150,000 USDT 150 USDT 30 USDT 360 USDT

This is only a rough estimate: actual fees are affected by the BNB discount, maker/taker and VIP tier, and the rebate base is the net fee, not 20% of volume.[3] Its purpose is to make clear whether "the money saved by the rebate" or "the extra money spent chasing volume" is larger.

The point of the fee rebate is to lower the fees of your normal future trading, not to make you create more trades just to receive a rebate.

If you already trade at a normal monthly scale of around 150,000 USD, the 30-day requirement is roughly one month of daily activity, and binding BN522 to save 20% long-term is worth it; if you only trade a few thousand dollars normally, forcing 150,000 USD for a 20% rebate will save far less than the extra fees and volatility risk you take on.

If you have no real trading need, it is not recommended to force volume just to pass the requirement. How do I check the result after applying?

Once the application enters the assessment, the relevant page will show:

  • Your UID
  • The referral code entered
  • Current review status
  • Assessment start date
  • Assessment end date
  • Completed trading progress
  • Remaining time

If the application fails, you can re-submit, but your account eligibility will be reviewed again and the assessment period will restart. To cancel a submitted application, contact Binance official support.

What is the difference from the 90-day old-user recall?

These are two different features — do not mix them up.

Comparison 90-day old-user recall Rebinding application
Past 90 days Completely unused Binance Total volume no more than 5,000 USD
How to do it Open a new referral link that supports recall Open the application page and enter the referral code
Follow-up requirement Usually none Complete 150,000 USD spot volume within 30 days
Already has a referrer Cannot participate Cannot participate

Binance adjusted the old-user recall requirement from 180 days to 90 days on 2026-03-24.[4] See Binance old-user recall program — official notes for details.

If your account has been completely unused for the past 90 days, checking the old-user recall first is simpler. Accounts registered within the last 30 days, accounts preparing for recall, or accounts considering closing and re-registering are handled differently; for the full judgement, see Binance referral code rebinding tutorial BN522: can you add it after registering? (2026).

I am already bound to another referral code — can I re-apply?

Usually no.

The "rebinding application" solves the problem of an account with no referrer, not swapping out an existing referrer. If your account already has a referral relationship, you generally cannot delete the original referrer, switch to another code, have support force a change, or re-choose because another code has a higher rate.

The "successful rebindings" you see online are often accounts that originally had no referral relationship and were later bound through rebinding, recall or activity applications. To judge your own chance, first check whether your account has a referrer.

FAQ

I had trades in the past 90 days — can I still apply?

You can check. If your total volume in the past 90 days does not exceed 5,000 USD and you also meet the KYC, main-account, no-referrer and region conditions, you can enter the application page to check eligibility.

If my application fails, can I re-submit?

Yes. After re-submitting, the platform will review your account eligibility again and the assessment period will restart.

Can I cancel after submitting?

You need to contact Binance official support.

How long after formal binding before I see the fee rebate?

After the referral relationship is formally established, you also need to complete eligible trades that generate fees before rebate records appear. If you have already generated fees but see no record, check the trade type, zero-fee pairs, account eligibility and system settlement status.

My advice

The rebinding application gives existing users who had no referrer and low recent-90-day volume another chance. But 150,000 USD of spot volume is not a low bar.

Being eligible only means you can submit an application; whether it is worth completing the requirement still depends on whether you have real trading needs.

First judge whether you qualify (do you have a referrer + your 90-day volume), then judge whether it is worth it (do you already have normal trading at a 150,000 USD scale). Think both through before deciding whether to submit.
